Private Practice for Psychotherapy in English in Berlin
Dipl.-Psych. Przemek Michalik-Sobolewski, Wilhelmshavener Str. 33, 10551 Berlin

Psychotherapy helps treat mental health issues, behavior problems, and emotional struggles. It aims to change how people think, feel, and act. It's used for many problems like depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. The main goal is to improve the quality of life.

Psychological counseling offers support and guidance for individuals, couples, or groups with personal, social, or professional issues. It is usually shorter and focuses on specific problems or decisions. Unlike counseling, psychotherapy deals with deeper mental health disorders.

Goals of psychological counseling can include: help with difficult life events such as separation or work-related problems, support with relationship issues or conflicts, better stress management, promotion of personal growth, and assistance with decisions in personal or professional areas.

I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. I gained clinical experience at the Theodor-Wenzel-Werk in Berlin, at the outpatient clinic of the Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Berlin and at GZF Berlin. Previously, I was a research associate at the University of Vienna and the CAU Kiel.
Next steps and costs
If you cover the cost of psychotherapy yourself or if it is reimbursed by a private health insurance provider:
After contacting me, we will schedule an initial appointment. During this first session, you can explain your concerns, and together we will decide on the next steps. If therapy is indicated, additional preliminary sessions (probatory sessions) will follow, which serve for diagnosis and therapy planning. These sessions also give you the opportunity to determine whether you feel comfortable in therapy and can envision working with me in the long term.
Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place once a week. The frequency and duration of treatment depend on your concerns and symptoms. Fees are based on the Gebührenordnung für Psychotherapeuten (GOP) (the official fee schedule for psychotherapists in Germany).
If the cost of psychotherapy is covered by statutory health insurance, the process is similar. However, in this case, sessions take place at the practice of Dipl.-Psych. Daria Kaluza, located at Gneisenaustraße 53 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
At the moment, I do not have any available therapy slots. I also do not maintain a waiting list. However, you are very welcome to get in touch again at a later time to inquire about current availability. As an alternative, I recommend contacting the psychotherapy outpatient clinics of training institutes in Berlin. These clinics often offer quicker access to therapy. An overview can be found, for example, on the website of the Berlin Chamber of Psychotherapists (Psychotherapeutenkammer Berlin).
Thank you for your understanding.
